What’s YOUR Business? Plus, My Blog Turns 1!

This week my blog/website turned 1 year old! As usual, the anniversary snuck up on me and I almost forgot.

As I look back over the past year, I realized that what I love most about having this website/blog is….

1. A good excuse to buy Tarot decks that I don’t really need

2. Connecting with other like minded Tarot-lovers (this makes me feel normal and not just some crazed deck collector)

3. Reading your comments!!! This is perhaps my fave part about my site 🙂

4. Allowing my evil, man eating twin Veronica to make guest appearances

So I want to invite you to share your own business in the comments section below. Whether its a spiritual, woo-woo-esque or totally conventional business, feel free to tell me what you like most about it 🙂

  1. Hi Kate! Just found you as you are celebrating your 1 year anniversary! I have been watching your videos non-stop to catch up! I love your down to earth way of explaining meanings, yet the words you choose have such depth and every video gets me thinking on a level I would never have thought of on my own. I’m still a novice when it comes to tarot and oracle cards, so the information you offer is just so helpful and resonates so clearly to me. I have a small home-based soap business and have included a link to my Etsy shop. I’m also on Facebook at Queen City Soaps. Soap making became an outlet of sorts for me at first, but then I got pretty good at it, and now I sell to the public. It’s a craft that brings out the creative side in me, but also allows me to just immerse myself in doing something I love as well as produce an end product that is better health conscious for my skin.

Thank you for sharing what you love with us and for inspiring us to grow! xx Marcy

    1. Marcy, that is so awesome you make soap!!! I have been wanting to learn how to do that for a while now. I love homemade soap! And thank you for your nice compliments – so happy you like my approach to Tarot 🙂

  2. Hey, Kate–

Like the others who’ve commented, I so appreciate your warm, insightful, funny, card-charm. I look forward to my daily dose of Daily Tarot Girl, no matter which “twin” is doing the reading.

I’m so glad that I found my way to you. Let’s give a shout-out to the WWW, which brings so much connection in this big ol’ world.

So, my business is called Woodstream Writers. There’s a link from my name to the website. I teach creative writing, offer freelance editing and critique services to businesses and to writers all over the U.S. and Canada, and travel around the state of Florida giving presentations on the craft and process of narrative writing–novel-writing and memoir, for the most part.

I’ve made a living with this business for coming up on ten years. January 10th, 2004, was the first workshop I offered on my own! I’m amazed at where my entrepreneurial journey has taken me, and grateful that most of my work-days have to do with talking to people who are interested in being more creative in the world.

Also, my cats get to spend much of every day with their “mom.”

Couldn’t be more grateful. And thanks for asking!
    Jamie-Stream

    Hi Kate, congrats!

My yoga studio is just over a year too. Quite a journey, very interesting.

I think an evil twin for me could be an excellent idea—

    Best wishes

    Denise

    1. Congratulations on your first year as well, Denise! And yes, I highly recommend an evil twin – it make life much easier when you have someone to blame for everything 😉

    2. Congratulations, Denise! That is so wonderful. I’m a yogini who loves her studio, and I know what a lot it takes to keep one up and running. They say the first year is the hardest.

      Anyway, blessings on Year Two,
      Namaste,
      jme

Iknow we all love Kate’s blog and her quirky sense of humour.
        Love

  5. Man eating twin? Whose “secret pleasure” among others is using her whip?

    That twin is something else!

  6. First let me congratulate you on your one-year milestone! I thoroughly enjoy your posts and find them insightful, accurate and helpful, and I look forward to reading them every day.

Our website is a photography website. I hesitate to call it a “business” because we don’t make our living from it, although photos may be purchased from it. My husband and I took up photography when he retired so we could have a common interest. We enjoy shooting nature, waterfalls, birds, anything old and rusty or falling down, antique cars, trucks and boats, and anything else that gets in front of our cameras. We are not professionals, but we do our best and post them on our website to share with others. We participate in local art shows and photography clubs, and have been published several times. Last fall we spent two weeks traveling the coast of Maine from Portland to Canada and back to photograph lighthouses. It was the trip of a lifetime that I can now cross off of my bucket list. We love to travel and document what we see in our photos. Because we live in the beautiful upstate of South Carolina, we are one hour from the mountains and waterfalls, and four hours from the coast, so we have many photos from these areas. So I hope you and your readers check out our website, get a cup of coffee, put any album of interest on slideshow and enjoy our hard work! Thank you for the opportunity to share!

Keep up the great work you are doing, and thank you for sharing your talents. Many blessings to you and your readers.

    1. Linda, those are gorgeous photos! I particularly loved the Arizona photos as that is somewhere I would like to visit someday. The horses album was also great (I love horses!). The trip up the east coast sounds really neat. My partner is obsessed with photography – he’s really really into it (me, not at all, but I can appreciate the nice photos!), so he sometimes takes me on his photography expeditions out into the forests, probably just because he’s scared of bears and doesn’t want to be out there alone.
But anyhow, your photos are lovely and you have some really unique stuff there. Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
      Cheers,
      Kate
PS – Thanks for reading my blog everyday!!!! 🙂

      1. Thank you! I am so happy you enjoyed the photos. I would love to see your partner’s work as well. I can’t wait to photograph the super moon tonight (if the weather cooperates)! Hope you have a wonderful day~

        1. Yes – Super moon tonight! Its cloudy where i am, but last night it was beautiful. My partner doesn’t have a website yet, but I will share some of his photos on my blog one of these days 🙂
