Four of Swords: the health benefits of lazing around

fridays with veronicaVeronica is my evil twin. She’s wicked, nasty and way more interesting than myself! Here is her take on the Four of Swords…

You know when you have those days where all you want to do is just lay on the couch for hours and watch 90210 (the 90’s version) on Netflix?

Remember LUKE PERRY?!

But you tell yourself “no, that’s lazy, I must go grocery shopping, do laundry and attend some shitty social event tonight.”

And then you get sick.

And you are forced to cancel because you feel horrible.

But then you get to spend all night on your couch watching 90210 re-runs.

Well played, my friend, well played.

The Four of Swords has shown up to remind you to take some downtime.

And not any of that high-quality downtime, like meditation or yoga. I’m talking low quality down time. Nachos, Netflix, Harlequin romance novels – that kind of shit!

Engaging in that kind of soul-poisoning claptrap is actually quite nourishing at times. It’s what I call true self care and it just might be your best cold prevention medicine!

In the comments below, I want you to tell me exactly what kind of “low quality downtime” you will be engaging in this weekend….

  1. Hi Kate,

Surprisingly that’s all I want to do. I had all kinds of plans today. Things that must get done. Chores and that sort of thing. I wanted to practice with my cards and the PDF from the webinar too. But I’ve been sick and I thought I was better but today I don’t feel better. I’m on the couch…and now I’m going to watch as many episodes of “Charmed” as I can fit in…. I’d love nacho’s but don’t have the stuff to make them…but I can have Macaroni and Cheese 🙂

  2. Some perfect Manhattans on Friday, Margaritas on Saturday and some Italian on Sunday, yay!

And. .. if someone asks–my tarot advisor said so!

    1. Antonio, it sounds like you’ve got your weekend all lined up! But the “italian” on Sunday has me confused – is that Italian food? Or a drink called an “italian” or are you referring to an Italian person? Either way, it sounds fun 😉

  3. Wonderful advice Veronica. Spending time doing stuff that is actually “good” for you isn’t always relaxing, because it still takes discipline and effort, because its “good” for you, not so restful.
Personally, I am busting my hiney to get all of my school work done today (Friday) so I can have proper weekend! I intend to order a lot of take-out (preparing food is NOT restful for me…or doing dishes for that matter.).

    1. Preparing food can be really fun and restful if you load up your ipod with really awesome podcasts to listen to. I like listening to Darkness Radio, Psychic Teachers, The Passion Zone, and like 20 others! I used to hate cooking and dishes too, but if your listening to stories about aliens and ghosts and sex then it suddenly becomes an enjoyable thing. But takeout is pretty wonderful, too! God, now I have a craving for noodles with peanut sauce.

  4. I’ll take this as Veronica’s blessing to read dirty fanfics and re-watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier all weekend.

  5. Hmm…I think I’ll be re-reading Jane Eyre, having a Frasier/Gilmore Girls marathon, listening to old school Paramore and drinking my weight in that instant peppermint mocha latte mix.
