Six of Wands ~ The dangers of being an overachieving jerk-off

fridays with veronicaVeronica is my alter ego – she says the things I have always longed to say and does the things I’ve always longed to do! When she isn’t whizzing around the world in her private jet full of boy toys, she’s yelling at crows (they are so loud at 5 am!) and sneering at what other people are buying in the grocery store. Here is her take on the Six of Wands…

Do you remember that obnoxious scene in Titanic where Leo Dicaprio shouts “I’m the king of the world!” from the bow of the ship? And then dies later?

Well, that’s what this card reminds me of.

And do you know someone in your life who is an annoying overachiever? Some dick who runs marathons, buys “investment properties” and has a “career”?

I know, those people are everywhere!

Or heaven forbid, maybe YOU are an overachiever. It’s okay, there’s still hope for you.

The Six of Wands depicts the fleeting glee that arises when you “succeed” on society’s terms.

It’s all sunshine and silken red loincloths at first, but then you realize that being successful isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it demands a certain amount of those sinister traits called responsibility and maturity. Um, yuck. No thanks.

If your “success” brings you more unpleasantness – like more work, more busy-ness, less free time, etc – then you need to re-think what success really means for you.

My personal idea of success is long stretches of uninterrupted free time, anonymity, fancy bedding and not giving a shit about what others think of me.

What’s yours?

  1. To me success IS being that over achieving a$$-hole. I love being that way, its who I am and I am not ashamed. I am apologetically and unabashedly proud of my over achieviningness. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go scampering about in my red loin cloth. 😉

      1. lol. No, no career, not yet anyway. I’m a perpetual student because I want to do everything, it makes choosing a career difficult. This is probably why the Seven of Cups shows up in all of my personal readings. 🙂
You and Veronica enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  2. Success to me is…..freedom, free time and makinf money from something I’m passionate about. Knowing my calling abd fulfilling my purpose, and knowing and understanding my past lives.

  3. This most deep interpretation of the possibilities of success are well creative, and worthy of thought. Because can one be successful anonymity?

And indeed one must be true to one’s nature to be truly successful. In essence don’t give a… But be careful… do not become another one in the crowd of eccentrics.

Not that You will ever commit that sin Veronica, Ma’am.

  4. “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears”.
That’s what this card reminds me of, just a bit ‘Caesarish’ really.
I mean the guy looks like he has a bikini tan. I know it’s supposed to be
victory, triumphant etc, but, yeah, hope he doesn’t get pricked with the laurel wreath and fall off the podium…

  5. I _WISH_ I was a little overachiever, but I’m not 😉 In fact I’m already relaxing too much every single day, and feel a little bad about it. 😀 hihi. Maybe I should continue on with it? And my type of “success” is having lots and lots of food in my house so I don’t have to shop every week. Love it!

Have a lovely weekend, Veronica! 😀
