Have you ever stared at the massive array of Tarot decks available online and thought “fuck. Which one do I get?”

There are thousands of Tarot decks out there and it feels like new ones are popping up every second. While this massive amount of choice is exciting, it’s also incredibly confusing and overwhelming.

Which Tarot deck is for you? Which one should you buy?

There needs to be a Tinder app just for Tarot decks! But since there isn’t one, I bring you the next best thing….my signature Daily Tarot Girl quiz that matches your personality with an appropriate Tarot deck.

You’re welcome! Now take the quiz…

1. You’re sick with the flu and forced to stay at home all week. You use this time by…

A) Powering through a box of salted caramels while watching all five Twilight movies back to back – without shame.

B) Languishing in bed and telling friends and family that you “might not make it”. Oh, and also watching lots of grisly true crime shows.

C) Finally testing out all the herbal medicines that you spent all Summer making.

D) Sitting on the couch, glued to your laptop or smartphone, catching up on email.

2. Which vacation appeals to you the most?

A) A sailboating trip where you get to skinny dip with dolphins and have giggly, day-drunk picnics on deserted islands.

B) A tour of haunted hot-spots in London, with plenty of museum pit stops.

C) Staying in a remote eco-village where you sleep in a spherical treehouse with a composting toilet. Orgyatic dance parties happen every evening in the main lodge!

D) An all-inclusive in Mexico or a Caribbean cruise. Fuck history and all that dumb shit, you just wanna go someplace sunny where nothings expected of you.

3. In the kitchen, you love to make…

A) Glorious cherry pies, lemon cupcakes with copious buttercream frosting and magnificent chocolate layer cakes!

B) Takeout. You’ve spent most of your life developing your intellect, but your cooking skills? Not so much!

C) Something vegan, fermented and KALE.

D) You rarely have time to dick around in the kitchen but when you do it’s tuna casserole, chicken noodle soup and lasagna – you know, comfort food!

4. Your favorite thing about the internet is…

A) Kitten videos! Grumpy Cat memes! Green juice recipes! Etsy! Pinterest! OMG soooo much!

B) Snark blogs. Twitter fights (observing them, not participating). And writing scathing reviews on Amazon.

C) How you can share information about gardening and stuff and learn really cool things like how to make kombucha and how to cure yeast infections with garlic yogurt.

D) Google maps

5. Most of your sex fantasies take place…

A) In a mythical land of your own imagination where everyone lives like primitive hunter gatherers except with electricity and showers. Everything’s organic and everyone’s super hot and buff.

B) In a library

C) Outside in nature! Also, see option A above.

D) In bed

6. Your #1 pet peeve is…

A) People that need scientific proof to believe in something. God those people suck!

B) Trailers for “feel-good” movies like fluffy romantic comedies or movies with kids in them. Yuck!

I’m 100% vegan. Eggs benny doesn’t count.

C) Fair weather vegans

D) Facebook. It’s a frivolous time suck of epic proportions – a voyeuristic black hole of boring baby photos, pointless opinions and self congratulatory crapolla.

7. Your favorite reading material consists of…

A) Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and some pretty weird mermaid smut that you secretly downloaded to your Kindle.

B) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The DaVinci Code and anything by Agatha Christie. Murder mysteries, true crime and Victorian ghost stories are right up your alley.

C) How-to books on wildcrafting, living off the land and anarchistic utopian manifestos get you all fired up!

D) The manual that came with your new Bissell Stick Vacuum.

8. Your perfect day would be spent…

A) Cuddling kittens and puppies and eating strawberry waffles while Daniel Craig (circa 2008) massages your feet.

B) Perusing antique bookstores, sipping Turkish coffee and running into your favorite old University prof who just so happens to remember you (and your above average intellect) after all these years.

C) Marching passionately in a political protest, meeting a sexy fellow protestor and heading back to your caravan (or tiny-house) for a “sensual experience” involving organic hemp oil, Nag Champa incense and that overpriced yoga bolster you never use…until now.

D) Getting your taxes done early, not hitting any red lights on your way to work and coming home to discover the new IKEA catalogue waiting for you in your mailbox!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now tally up your score!

Mostly A’s – Mystical Daydreamer

You’re a happy soul who loves to daydream and roll around in your imagination. Some say you’re spacey but it’s because you’re too busy traversing other worlds to be fully present in this bland one. And you need a Tarot deck that reflects that!

Decks with fairies, mermaids and dragons will get your heart pounding while new agey decks with sun rays, chakras and angel wings might strike a chord, too. You  prefer uplifting decks over dark, broody ones and you’re magically drawn to animal decks.

Here are some suggestions:

crystal-visions-tarot-jennifer-galasso

Crystal Visions Tarot

Shadowscapes Tarot

Hezicos Tarot

Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot by Dame Darcy (This one can be tricky to find)

Angel Tarot by Doreen Virtue

Osho Zen Tarot

The Animal Wisdom Tarot

Mystical Cats Tarot

Paulina Tarot

Mostly B’s – Intellectual Cranky Pants

You’re overly brainy, pessimistic and moody and you love to take a stroll on the dark side. You never turn down a challenge! You don’t want “easy” and you don’t want “fluff” – you want a deck that’s confusing (to idiots), darkly intriguing and something you can really sink your teeth into.

Thoth Tarot Deck by Aleister Crowley

Game of Thrones Tarot by Liz Dean and Craig Coss

Prisma Visions Tarot

Tarot de Marseilles by Jodorowsky

The Vampire Tarot by Robert Place

Tarot of the Sweet Twilight

Secret Tarot

Mostly C’s – Rebel Hippy

You’re a rebel, an eccentric, a brave trail blazer who lives outside the system and grows her own kale. You love getting out for long nature hikes (or so you say), doing full moon rituals and protesting Monsanto. You’re interested in decks that emphasize nature, animals, feminine power and Wicca or Druidry.

Wild Unknown Tarot

Druidcraft Tarot

Wildwood Tarot

Everyday Witch Tarot

Motherpeace Tarot

Tarot of the Pagan Cats

Mostly D’s – No-nonsense Nelly

You’re a practical, no-nonsense individual and you don’t have time for all the bullshit that seems to inundate everyone these days. You know what you want and where you’re going. No one’s ever accused you of being “too exciting” but who cares? You need a deck that brings you the goods straight up without any fip-fop fappery.

Since I know you’ve got somewhere to be right now, I’ll make this quick…

The Universal Waite Tarot Deck

Morgan-Greer Tarot

Robin Wood Tarot

Anna K Tarot

Was I right? Was I right?

I want to know! What personality type were you and were my Tarot deck suggestions to your liking? And what decks would you recommend? Tell me in the comments below…

  1. I have mostly A’s and I have three of the decks suggested. And two other decks on the list are on my wishlist!

  2. Mostly B’s I’ll have to check out some deck walkthroughs of your suggestions. I don’t yet own what most would consider a “dark” deck.

  3. Hahaha! I got mostly A, close second B, then C & D were questioning what the hell they were doing on my quiz results. So yep, Mystical Dreamer Into Intellectual Shit. There. YAY. Cracking up because I’m using Shadowscapes for your Intuitive Reader class (Internet being a poo, I’ll make like The Terminator and be back – I miss you guys!!), and Angel Tarot has been my first go-to when reading for others. I adore Mystic Dreamer by Heidi Darras (that deck and me have ~history~ lol), though the amount of folks telling me they prefer Shadowscapes when consulting for me, I gave it a whirl. Been awesome. Those two decks continue to hold sisterhood meetings when I’m not paying them attention.

  4. Lol. I scored mostly D, and aside from the RWS that I was gifted at 14 as my very first deck, I own none of those decks. Nor am I at all interested in them. Instead, I own a fair few decks listed in A, B, and C. And love them all.

  5. Tracey Robinson

I got mostly C and I have two of the decks you suggested ???? .. pretty accurate for me .. off to check out your other suggestions x

  6. My answers fell all over the spectrum – 1 A, 2Bs, 3Cs and 2Ds, which is about right! My taste in decks falls mostly in line with the Bs (Tarot of the Sweet Twilight is one of my favourites!), the Tarot of the Cat People would be right at home with them as well. 🙂

  7. The problem I have is that I have arthritic hands and can only use smaller edition of cards 5cms x 9cms…..so find it a bit difficult find in Australia, so usually wait until we have a psychic fair and then they have a lot to choose from. Love your blog and news letters, I live alone and they are a great comfort and I look forward to them.
    Blessed Be Freda

    1. Glad you’re enjoying my blog posts/letters Freda 🙂 I like little decks too, just for ease of shuffling. The Hanson-Roberts Tarot is a nice mini-deck if you’re looking for something smaller.

  8. I had mostly A’s which is perfect because that is the deck I asked you to use for my yearly reading. Love it! I guess I better get my very own deck.

  9. I got mostly C’s, but I am NOT vegan at all! However I have and enjoy all the decks listed under Rebel Hippy, in this order: Wildwood Tarot, Everyday Witch Tarot, Tarot Druidcraft Tarot, Wild Unknown. I also like the no nonsense Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot. You got me pegged!

  10. HAHA So I scored all A’s. And it certainly matched me. But a little to well; I actually have all those decks and LOVE them lol.

Thanks though it was a fun little quiz

  11. I got mostly A’s but I am definitely a mix of both A and C. My favorite decks of all time have been the Wild Unknown, Shadowscapes, and Druidcraft. <3 Hehe Very cute quiz though!

  12. I am mostly D’s and yep, pretty damn close! I’m quite known for no-nonsense, to the point. While it’s nice sure, I have to admit that sometimes I wish I could be more relaxed and easy-going.

    Fun quiz 🙂

  13. I got a weird mix so I guess I should have all of the decks above. (I have most of them) Just look at this:
    1D
    2B
    3D
    4A
    5C
    6C
    7B
    8A

      1. P.S. I prefer the Phoenix deck (one of many) as I have been doing readings for almost 20 years. I couldn’t possibly pick only one deck. Let’s ask “What is your favorite spread?”

  14. The Tarot of Vampyres by Ian Daniels would be a good suggestion for the B. Its theory is heavy, follows the Thoth system despite being advertised as Rider Waite-based and has occult stuff hidden in the illustrations that you will only spot if you know the stuff that makes the Thoth be the Thoth (astrology, thelema, qabalah, etc). Also, the companion book is very complete.

  15. My answers were:
    3 A
    3 C
    2 D

Hmm… interesting results. For A I do love Shadowscapes and Mystical Cats but the others not so much. For C I like Wild Unknown and Wildwood but the others don’t really appeal to me. For D, I hate them all. Seriously, hate is an appropriate word. The deck I connect with the most is Thoth which is for B, the one I didn’t select at all. LOL

  16. I dunno. I just think you’re a genius. And I have all these fucking decks. Every. Single. One of them. (Glad to know Eggs Benedict is vegan-cool. B/c I’m hungry right now.)

  17. Strangly, as I wrote out my list, it came out to look like this:
    A
    D
    A
    D
    A
    D
    A
    A

    How weird is that?

    I actually have

The decks in A sound familiar, like I’ve put a couple of them in my cart at Amazon. Is The Animal Wisdom Tarot the same as The Animal Totem Tarot? I just got the latter.

B decks, mostly not interested, though I didn’t know there was a Game of Thrones deck. Will have to check it out.

C decks really fit me and I own Wildwood – physical deck, and in app form; and want the other three.

D decks I own the Morgan Greer, and The Robin Wood was my first deck that I actually learned to read with. I also have at least 3 different Rider/Waite/Smith decks, but only because they ended up in my collection somehow – no memory of getting them. Might have been gifts…

My current personal deck is The Gaian Tarot deck.

As always, you’re posts, and vids are inspiring and great fun!

  18. Hi, Kate!
Me? I really am just on the mend, from three weeks of that nightmarish ‘Flu, – just as you cleverly mentioned in Q. 1, when you began this Ace Quiz!
Whoever invented duvets, electric blankets, pcs and the Internet, – not forgetting disposable cups, plates and tissues, should get a gold medal the size of a deep-pan pizza!
And the Tarot deck, all this time too, really has been my sole source of cheer, hope, encouragement and comfort, – just like you said in Q.1 – ‘d’!
Your overall prediction for me is totally spot-on!
    I got nearly all ‘d’s, a couple of ‘b’s and a ‘c’.
Confirming me as a boring old traditionalist, inseparable from my trusty Rider-Waite deck, – bought fifty years ago, when it was the only one in town.
But still giving fantastically reliable readings, – now I’ve managed to throw away the rule-book of official card interpretations and allow my inner intuition and imagination, to have complete free rein.
Thanks to your regular readings, encouraging this approach!
Though all that said about the Rider-Waite deck, I recently have been warming to the Everyday Witch deck, – which you’ve been featuring quite often in your weekly readings.
I might well treat myself to this deck and see how I get on with it, – as a prize for surviving the worst bout of ‘Flu, ever!
Thanks anyhow for all you do, – keeping your super-valuable website going without fail.
Oh yeah, – not heard from Veronica recently, – has she too, been down with ‘Flu?!
LotsaLuv to you and Merlina anyhow,
    xoxo
    Zoe T.

    1. Zoe! I hope you’ve fully recovered from the flu. I’m happy to hear you’re having success with a more intuitive reading approach – that’s wonderful!!! And Yes, Veronica also had the flu…but she’ll back tomorrow 😉

  19. Today I was mostly D’s and I am actually in bed sick…..on another day the A and the c decks might grab more of me… I think I’m mood today lol!

  20. I got mostly C/s and D/s but don’t consider myself the brainy type. I’ve been looking for the right deck for so long. Currently have Every Day Witches Tarot and Albano Waite Tarrot. I get some information from the Every Day Witch Deck and NONE from my Albano Waite deck. I used my friends Star Seed Tarot and Witches Tarot and find them intense but some good comes through the pictures. I’ve wanted to learn tarot for so long and the traditional RW Albano does NOTHING for me!!! A part of me likes mid evial scampi but it’s kind of out there and not calming. I’ve spent endless time on this and sort of gave up finding the right deck.

  21. I had A’s and B’s but I already had some of the decks off the D and A list and had just purchased the Everyday Witch Tarot today.

  22. Lori Christoffersen

i was a mix of b’s and d’s . the robin wood deck was my first and always my bff deck. spot on
